Crystalpaw slowly crept up on the rabbit, silent as he could be. But not silent enough! The rabbit's eyes pricked; it had noticed its danger. Crystalpaw, realizing that his prey was beginning to escape, lept for the rabbit. Too slow! The rabbit hopped away into a bush, and Crystalpaw felt dissapointed in himself. Realizing there was no reason to dwell on his failure, he picked himself up and started sniffing the air for more possible prey.

Twilightfire moved slowly through the brush, her paws not making a sound as they brushed against the ground. She was doing a bit of an evaluation of her apprentice's abilities. Razorstar, her brother, along with all the other cas in PrismClan knew that apprentice training needed to be sped up, and if Crystalpaw did well, Twilightfire would work on battle training with him.
Twilightfire almost flew out of the brush she was hiding herself so well in as Crystalpaw missed the rabbit. How did he miss that?! A kit could have caught that rabbit! For StarClan's sake; please let him catch something else, or I'll be laughed out of camp for being "an embarrassment of a mentor"! Twilightfire thought, digging her claws into the ground for a moment.
Then, still in the hunter's crouch as Crystalpaw moved on, Twilightfire slowly weaved through the brush, not making a sound as she did so. Her gray eyes were locked on her apprentice as she went about her way. For a moment Twilightfire paused, opening her jaws to test the air...

Another rustle in the direction the rabbit had gone sounded in Crystalpaw's ears. He almost shot up with excitement but manged to contain himself, knowing that doing so would scare the rabbit away. 'The stupid rabbit, he didn't even run very far!' Crystalpaw thought excitedly. He slowly crept up upon it, then sprang again. This time he felt the rabbit in his clutches, trying to jump to safety. He grabbed on with his claws and bit down. He bit down at just the right spot, right on the neck! The rabbit fell limp, and Crystalpaw rose back to his feet. Then an excited question entered his mind, 'Should I bury him and go for more, or should I go back now?' He decided to keep going, and so he worked to dig up a bit of ground and started to lightly bury the rabbit. He didn't dig too far, because he wanted to be able to still get it back on the return trip.

Creeping forward behind her apprentice, Twilightfire nodded in her approval. So he ISN'T a complete loss,Twilightfire mused in her thoughts, Let's see if he can continue to do well.. Then we'll move onto battle training... That is, if he succeeds at this.
Twilightfire moved forward, her paws not making a sound as they lightly brushed the ground in her stalk to propel herself forward. Razorstar would be pleased when she made her report on HER apprentice. Thinking about my brother... Twilightfire thought, Where is he? I didn't see him around camp this morning. He's probably out hunting. Twilightfire nodded. Yes, that was it: Razorstar was hunting.
Just hunting. There was absolutely NOTHING wrong.

Crystalpaw "hopped" cheerfully and naively for a few seconds before he realized that he would scare away the prey. He looked from side to side slowly and tasted the air, hoping to be able to catch something. "Mouse!" He said silently but excitedly. Now just where to find it? He wondered, and decided to follow his nose.

Twilightfire shook her head at her apprentice's happy little "bounce". The black she-cat tensed as he mouthed the word "mouse". Testing the air, Twilightfire realized that the tom was right.
And he's probably scared it off with all that bouncing by now... Twilightfire thought glumly, shaking her head. The she-cat tested the air once more, making sure that she stayed unnoticed. If she was to evaluate her apprentice, it would be essential that he didn't know. It was easier on the apprentice if they didn't think they were being watched; that was one thing that Twilightfire knew very well.

Crystalpaw took a few tentative steps forwards. He was silent as he could be, and yet to him every step seemed too loud. But he didn't think about the negative, because he could hear the faint sound of a pair of small teeth nibbling at a seed. He creeped around the corner to see the mouse. As quickly as he could he lashed out with his paw, but the blow only glanced the mouse. The mouse was knocked against a small, rotten log. For a second Crystalpaw thought he had gotten it, but then it started to come to his senses. Gotta act fast!
